Boxing Day is celebrated on the 26th December, the day after Christmas.
The 26th of December is also know as St Stephen’s Day. St Stephen was the first Christian martyr being stoned to death is 34-35 AD (approximately 1-2 years after Jesus was crucified).
Boxing day has it origins in the past centuries where is was custom for the wealthy and high social status to give gifts to their servants and the less fortunate…….. something which seems to be more in the spirit of Christmas itself.
